OPTIQ
An optical-style compressor plugin built for smooth control, and modern workflow in any mixing and mastering project.
Optiq is a modern digital compressor audio plugin built around an optical-style concept rather than a strict peak clamp or a bare utility compressor.
The processor architecture: Detector → Static curve → Stereo link → T4 optical memory → Gain application → Coloring (Saturation) → Metering
At the core of the plugin is a T4-style optical gain-reduction architecture with a soft-knee compression curve and a multi-stage release structure also used in the famous LA-2A compressor unit.
Instead of relying on a single fixed recovery shape, the Optiq compressor blends fast, medium, and slow release behavior within its optical memory stage.
That gives the compressor a more musical sense of movement across very different sources, while Sidechain HPF, Stereo Link, Auto Output, and the optional Color stage make it easier to shape the result for the track in front of you.

Optiq was mainly designed for vocals when you want smoother level control and a more forgiving release feel than a rigid compressor can offer. Sidechain filtering helps reduce pumping from plosives and low-end bleed, while the Color stage can add extra saturation if the vocal feels too polite.
Drums
On drums and drum buses, Optiq can move from controlled glue to firmer containment depending on Peak Reduction, ratio, mode, and timing settings. The optical-style recovery behavior gives it a different feel from a more aggressive transient-first design.
Bass
Bass quickly exposes weak release behavior. Optiq’s multi-stage recovery and detector shaping help it stay more stable on sustained low-end material, while Color can add extra harmonics if needed.
Mix Bus
Stereo Link, Sidechain HPF, soft-knee behavior, and the optical memory stage make Optiq a strong candidate for bus compression when you want control without the image becoming unstable or the low end taking over the detector.
